For many years I have collected objects on my walks along the west coast of France, mostly plastic, some recognizable as fragments, others so eroded their original purpose has been rendered unrecognizable. Transformative forces have over time, left their marks on these man-made objects. Nature can turn trash into something interesting, even beautiful, though it may be a deceptive beauty. The long shadows that these small „Flotsam“ cast in the photographs can be read as an ominous reality. Potentially these fragments point to other massive currents which the ocean indiscriminately archives on its coastline.

Flotsam:

1.rubbish, for example bits of wood and plastic, that is floating on the sea or has been left on the shore.

2.You can use flotsam to refer to people who have had to leave their own country.
