Lookout

Lookout consists of plein air paintings done in Stuttgart, New York, the rural foothills near Porto and on the islands of Belle-ile-en-mer and Martha’s Vineyard. The exhibition was part of the “quickn’dirty” series, where works were displayed in one room, for one night, by one artist during the month of May 2017. Lookout was a room installation playing with the given architectural and design elements of the space. It required looking at the paintings from different vantage points, sometimes with the help of binoculars or by stepping up on a foot stool to acess the vast landscape. The juxtaposition between the panorama photo of New York’s densely built cityscape and the painted natural landscapes created a dialog to reflect upon. Lookout before it’s too late.
